Project Description
A major process expansion is underway at the Dr. Paul Phillips Water Purification Plant in Weatherford, Texas, designed to enhance drinking water quality and address seasonal taste and odor issues.
Project highlights include
Advanced GAC Treatment: Installation of four Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) contactors, each engineered for 2.72 gpm/sf surface loading and 15 gpm/sf backwash flow, enabling high-efficiency removal of taste- and odor-causing compounds.
Process Piping Infrastructure: Includes a 42-inch filtered water pipeline, 48-inch contactor effluent line with chemical injection/sample access, 16-inch backwash supply line, and 30-inch waste line connected to existing settling tanks.
Mechanical & Electrical Systems: New air compressors, rotary blowers, sump pumps, and a dedicated electrical room with MCCs, VFDs, and SCADA controls for full automation and operational reliability.
Civil & Structural Work: Deep excavation, cast-in-place concrete basins, and structural steel installations to support long-term durability and performance.
These upgrades will equip Weatherford with state-of-the-art taste and odor treatment capacity, ensuring safe, reliable, and great-tasting potable water for residents year-round.
