I-35 Alamo Project – Bridge Expansion & Urban Mobility Enhancement, Segment N2
Project Description
A transformative bridge expansion is underway on Interstate 35 in Central Texas, aimed at relieving congestion and improving mobility in one of the state’s busiest urban corridors. The Alamo Project features the construction of two 3-mile-long, 3-lane bridges with shoulders—totaling 6 miles of elevated roadway designed to support long-term regional growth.
Project highlights include
Bridge Construction Oversight: Supervision of large-scale bridge builds with over 40,000 cubic yards of concrete placed to meet structural and durability standards.
Cantilever Design Execution: Coordination of complex cantilever bridge designs within tight urban spaces, requiring precision engineering and logistical planning.
Night Shift Operations: Over 80% of construction is performed at night to minimize traffic disruption and maintain commuter flow through the corridor.
Stakeholder & Team Coordination: Seamless collaboration with prime contractors, subcontractors, and city officials to ensure compliance with traffic control plans and maintain project momentum.
Urban Worksite Challenges: Management of confined work zones, critical crane lifts, and installation of 320 bridge columns, some reaching heights of 88 feet, while navigation live traffic flows, existing live utilities and power lines.
